My Entrepreneurship Story

My Entrepreneurship Story

During high school, I led multiple projects that I know are still continuing today. I started a talent show that raises money for the Journalism classes. This money is used to make social media project, the yearbook, and put on special events throughout the school year. The talent show started with securing sponsorships from local businesses. Calling hundreds of businesses is how we would pay for all the props and space for the show. This usually raised about $500-$750. We would have mini-fundraisers throughout the year too to collect more money.
Another event that I started doing in high-school was renting out a space by the Miami-Dade County Fair and bringing in a group called Feed My Starving Children. Feed My Starving Children is a Christian non-profit organization that coordinates the packaging and distribution of food to people in developing nations. This helps so many people around the world, especially children that are suffering from malnutrition. This was an amazing experience because I knew that after 4 hours of putting together food packages, we would help so many people across the world.
I enrolled into ENT3003 because I believe it could help pursue future entrepreneurship goals if I decided to do so. Being able to learn it before I set out these goals is important because it allows for me to know what I'm doing and how to make the best out of the situation. This class could also provide a guideline for entrepreneurship goals and working together with those around me.

  1. Hi Jenna!

Your entrepreneurship story is amazing. You have created two great opportunities to help others. It is very beneficial for your future career that you already have experience in putting together such large events. It must have been a lot of work to call and find sponsors to support the talent show. I think "Feed My Starving Children" was a wonderful organization you brought to your high school. Keep up the great work!

  2. I enjoyed reading your entrepreneurship story. I like how the organizations you were involved in were beneficial to the people in need. Raising money is a difficult thing to do sometimes. Especially if the organization is not that big. Looks like you did a great job of finding people to donate. I also believe this class will also be good for my future goals!

  3. Hey,
I think it’s awesome that you had the opportunity in high school to do cool projects like the Feed Starving Children campaign. I did a mini business project, but it was definitely nothing cool like that. I am glad that you are excited for this class because I think it is going to be great for what you want to do. I am mainly taking the course to benefited my critical thinking skills.
