Bug List

Bug List
1. Getting so many notifications on my phone while I'm at work or when I'm busy.
  • Why this bug exists? People may need help with something, professors may send emails. Usually these aren't intentional but could definitely affect a person's productivity.
2. When UF only gives you a week to pay tuition and stresses students out about money issues.
  • Why this bug exists? UF may need all the money before classes start getting in depth and they don't want students to take classes without paying.
3. Having to pay extra for suitcases when your go on an airplane.
  • Why this bug exists? Airlines want to make more money and charge you for the space you make take up under the plane.
4. My landlord leaves the temperature of my house at 68 degrees, even when its freezing cold outside.
  • Why this bug exists? Honestly, I have no reason. I know heating is expensive and they want to cut on electricity costs but it makes no sense to me to keep the thermostat below 70 on cold days.
5. When you put on a tv show but someone comes into the room and starts talking.
  • Why this bug exists? Some people may not notice the television is on, others may just try and talk to you. Sometimes, they're just being rude.
6. Spilling coffee or some other item on your shirt after you just put it on.
  • Why this bug exists? I'm not sure why this exists, but it's annoying. Especially if you're wearing a white shirt. Maybe the realization that you're wearing a white shirt makes you think to be cautious but really, you're just extra clumsy.
7. When you buy something at the store with a security tag but the retail worker forgets to take it off.

  • Why this bug exists? Sometimes retail workers can be extremely busy and forget to take the tags off. Unfortunately, having a retail worker or security running after you is also another bug that comes with this.
8. When someone doesn't respond to a message even after many hours pass.

  • Why this bug exists? Some people get busy. It's understandable.
9. When you have to take care of a friend that is heavily intoxicated.

  • Why this bug exists? Everybody likes to have fun when they drink, but to the point of severe intoxication on a weekly basis just makes everybody around you miserable and ending their night to babysit.
10. When someone takes your clothes out of the washer without letting you know.

  • Why this bug exists? People are in a rush or they may forget. It's unfortunate but it happens.
11. You get up for an early class but then it gets canceled.

  • Why this bug exists? Professors may be sick or just running so late they won't have anytime during class. But it sucks to wake up at 7:30, getting ready and finding out you don't have class.
12. How some science labs at UF are three hours long.

  • Why this bug exists? There's a lot of material to cover in chemistry and biology labs but three hours long is a bit excessive.
13. When I put a lot of effort into an assignment or a task and it isn't appreciated.

  • Why this bug exists? Some professors/employers maybe gave you the assignment just to see if you can handle the work.
14. Ordering something online and it looking completely different than the picture you saw.

  • Why this bug exists? Some companies may do this so they don't accurately depict the poor quality clothing they are pushing to buyers. It's frustrating to return your clothing and ask for a refund than to keep the item.
15. My conditioner runs out much faster than my shampoo.

  • Why this bug exists? Being a girl, conditioner goes much faster because it helps to detangle hair. We can also use it to shave. It's versatile but goes very fast.
16. When you put brand new, clean socks on and then step in something wet.

  • Why this bug exists? Maybe sometimes this is just karma, but usually it's because somebody spilled something on the floor and decided not to clean it up.
17. Getting a new phone but none of your text messages or photos are saved.

  • Why this bug exists? This could simply be an error in not backing up your phone.
18. When I'm talking to someone but they are looking at their phone the whole time.

  • Why this bug exists? They may have something extremely important going on, usually those people are just scrolling through Instagram. Living in the 21st century means that everybody is always on their phone.
19. Ordering something online from Amazon and something small comes in a huge box.

  • Why this bug exists? This could just be resource commodity. What they have is what they will use.
20. The expense of college textbooks.

  • Why this bug exists? Textbooks are unreasonably expensive. Professors say you have to buy the textbooks but never use them in class. It's money wasted.
This assignment was hard for me because I know many things bother me but they bother me when they happen. After they happen, I usually just forget about them. Thinking of things that intentionally bother me kind of annoys me because I just start thinking about are these things that happen, that shouldn't and it frustrates me. This post took me a few days to complete considering I had to thinking of 20 things that bother me.

  1. Hi Jenna,

Number seven and fourteen on your Bug List are very relatable. I have had to go back to a store, because a sales associate had forgotten to remove the security tag. This can be annoying especially if the store is far away. It also bugs me when clothes online look completely different then they do in person. It can be a waste of time and a hassle to have to return them.

  2. Jenna,
I completely agree with you on #20. College textbooks have always been a nuisance in my eyes. When you buy the book you expect to use it, but end up reading 1 chapter and that is it. Access cards are the worlds worst next to college books. I hate how bad the book company does us. They know we need them and know we will have to buy them so, they either jack the prices up or send you an access card that is only valid for 1 year and then boom it is gone forever.

  3. Hey Jenna,
I can relate to number 13 so much. I remember back in my freshman year when I was taking comp 1 and I did not earn the grade I thought I deserved. I worked so hard in that essay I was so disappointing. Like you, I also found this assignment difficult because I also deal with the bugs at the moment but then forget about them and keep going with my day. They are not things that stay on your mind all the time but I feel like this activity helped us realize there are many things that bug us but they all have some kind of solution.

  4. Like you I had a couple bugs about the University of Florida. Mine focused a lot on the services that school like the book store and dorm room accommodations. The book store lines are always so long at the beginning of the year and it does not have to be that way. I had a difficult time finding all of my bugs because I am usually pretty unaware of the things that bother me.
