30A Final Reflection

1) Some of highs in this class was finally finishing this class. Although it was fun and great to learn, it has been difficult for me because I have had to think of things in a way I've never thought about them. I never saw myself taking a business-like class in college but I just finished mine. By taking this class, I have seen the challenges and struggles that real entrepreneurs have faced by reading their books and seeing how they rose above struggles and developed ideas that many other people would never think about.
2) What I will remember most about this class is the development of a small idea into an entire building block of a entrepreneurial idea. We started by saying "I want to help people have a healthier lifestyle" and from there we just developed that idea more and more until we had a full business plan. Creating something from essentially nothing was the best for me because I started no where and ended up developing something I am proud of.
3) I can see myself doing entrepreneurial tasks and having a mindset sometime but I don't think I'll become an entrepreneur. Being in business isn't as interesting to me as other fields of study. I have more of an entrepreneurial mindset now than I did before I started this class. And even though I may not use these skills in my life, I believe it was important to learn and to develop just to have some knowledge in other fields of study.
4) I would recommend to those that are going down this path in the future to take your time. Rome wasn't built in a day. You'll have your failures and your ups and downs but don't rush. Taking your time could add more time, ideas, and thought into your product that may not have been done if you rushed the process.
To perform best in this course, I would say to keep up with lecture materials and complete your assignments before they are due and space them out throughout the week. This is the less stressful way of completing this class. To foster this mindset, I'd say to plan a day or two during your week where you complete all of your assignments and then another day you would complete peer reviews. Breaking everything up gives a few days for your classmates to finish the assignments and for you to have time to read through them and peer review them.

  1. Hi Jenna,

I agree, this class has showed me problems real entrepreneurs face, such as choosing the right target audience, designing the product, picking a distribution method, and selecting effective marketing tactics. I like how you pointed out we created our entire business from a small idea. In the beginning it was hard for me to come up with an idea, but by the end of the semester I had created a through business model.

  2. Hi Jenna,
This class has definitely helped everyone develop an entrepreneurial website, I believe. Definitely dealing with failure is one of the most important things to take away from the class. Learning from your mistakes and getting criticisms from others helped put into perspective how we live our lives and how to improve them every day. Development and planning is also very important for future students who want to succeed in this class.

  3. Hey Jenna,
I really like how you appreciate the skills an entrepreneurs has and needs although you are not interested in being an entrepreneur. I agree that the class was pretty difficult because it required us to think in a way we never had to. We had to become a new person and gain a new perspective. Overall it was a great experience.
