8A Solving the Problem

1) My opportunity was how n atural medicinal opportunities have been around for millenniums like essential oils however the food and drug administration has not capitalized on their health benefits due to the cost and quantitative biochemicals.  Essential oils have enhanced lives for thousands of years, offering a variety of benefits from cosmetic and dietary purposes  to spiritual and religious use. 2) I propose the introduction of pure essential oils into therapeutic and household arenas first to show how they could help around the house and for the body as well. Although I can't regulate the cost or the availability of these oils, I could help show people how they can help work in just a matter of hours. The usage of natural medicinal opportunities could lead to less risk factors involved in the use of mass produced over-the-counter and prescription medication. Chiropractic and therapist offices could use oils that help with muscle aches and...

7A Testing the Hypothesis Pt. 1

Opportunity: Natural medicinal opportunities have been around for millenniums like essential oils however the food and drug administration has not capitalized on their health benefits due to the cost and quantitative biochemicals.  Essential oils have enhanced lives for thousands of years, offering a variety of benefits from cosmetic and dietary purposes to spiritual and religious use. Who: Everybody that uses FDA controlled medications in a home or therapeutic environment.  What: The FDA won't regulate the use of natural and medicinal medical options in therapeutic or household environments. Why: The FDA believes there isn't a cost effective way of providing these treatments and doesn't recommend the use of therapeutic grade oils for medical or therapeutic care.  Testing the who: I believe that many people could use therapeutic grade oils to help with problems around a household and/or therapeutic experiences like chiropractic offices. There are many c...

Identifying Opportunities in Economic & Regulatory Trends

1) Financial Markets control Oil, Gas, and Food Resources I found this on a website called The Balance. This lead me to an article about the 6 top economic trends in the U.S.  I believe this information suggests an opportunity because it could lead to true economic initiatives to help our financial market instead of dragging it down even more.  Government whether state, local, or federal should all be interested in this problem. Supply and demand have become less important with these resources and instead, commodities traders set all the prices. The speed of transactions also increase the economic volatility.  This would be relatively difficult to exploit because many people are greedy and want money. Big oil is an already corrupt institution and by implementing more strict regulations concerning these items, it could allow for supply and demand to become more important in our economy.  I was able to see this opportunity because I don't suppor...

Identifying Local Opportunities

Identifying Local Opportunities 1) Rusty patched bumblebee becomes first endangered bee Rusty patched bumblebee The endangered species list has a new addition, the rusty patched bumblebee. 30% of food is dependent on the ability of bees to pollinate crops and due to a 44% decline of the bee population, this could become a serious problem. It's important to identify exactly what is causing the decline in population and apply this knowledge to other species of bees.  The bee population is steadily decreasing which could affect the crop production in the United States.  The problem applies to everyone that eats food. Without bees, there would be little to no pollination occurring, causing crops to become non-existent. Without fixing this problem, dozens to hundreds of species of bees can die.  2) Florida's fentanyl problem hits home after Gainesville man overdoses.  Fentanyl problem An 18-year old Gainesville man almost died after overdosing o...

Opportunity Belief

Opportunity Belief 1) Many students have difficulty managing their time for homework assignments and studying.  2) Students don't have enough time to do everything on their list sometimes. Between studying for exams, completing homework, going to discussion classes, working, wanting to have a social life, and getting enough sleep it can be hard for college students to balance everything on their plate. This belief has always existed. Students get overworked sometimes, causing them to drop out of school or have a breakdown. Some elements that may help with this problem is the block schedule of classes and extended due dates. The DRC at UF also helps because if you have anxiety problems, you could get extended time for your exams and assignments.  3) Two of my friends seem to have this problem often. I can see the struggle they go through because we also live together. It's easier to recognize the problem, especially when you live with the person that's being affected....

My Entrepreneurship Story

Image
My Entrepreneurship Story During high school, I led multiple projects that I know are still continuing today. I started a talent show that raises money for the Journalism classes. This money is used to make social media project, the yearbook, and put on special events throughout the school year. The talent show started with securing sponsorships from local businesses. Calling hundreds of businesses is how we would pay for all the props and space for the show. This usually raised about $500-$750. We would have mini-fundraisers throughout the year too to collect more money.  Another event that I started doing in high-school was renting out a space by the Miami-Dade County Fair and bringing in a group called Feed My Starving Children.  Feed My Starving Children is a Christian non-profit organization that coordinates the packaging and distribution of food to people in developing nations. This helps so many people around the world, especially children that are suffering fr...

Bug List

Bug List 1. Getting so many notifications on my phone while I'm at work or when I'm busy.  Why this bug exists? People may need help with something, professors may send emails. Usually these aren't intentional but could definitely affect a person's productivity.   2. When UF only gives you a week to pay tuition and stresses students out about money issues.  Why this bug exists? UF may need all the money before classes start getting in depth and they don't want students to take classes without paying. 3. Having to pay extra for suitcases when your go on an airplane.  Why this bug exists? Airlines want to make more money and charge you for the space you make take up under the plane.  4. My landlord leaves the temperature of my house at 68 degrees, even when its freezing cold outside.  Why this bug exists? Honestly, I have no reason. I know heating is expensive and they want to cut on electricity costs but it makes no sense to me t...
